I have a property where the garage was converted to a room, but it wasn’t permitted. Will the VA require it to be converted back?

Great question, VA will only require unpermitted work to be redone if it doesn’t meet city codes and ordinance. If the appraisal doesn’t call it out and they consider it to be a room you will be fine. I would make sure you have something in writing from the city that states Garage conversions can be converted without permits. They more than likely added electrical , plumbing and other trade work that normally requires permits. Each city and state is different though.
